Awesome news, Fashionistas! Chloe Chic has landed a spot in the latest issue of East End Fashion Magazine. This is so exciting for us here at CC & we are itching to share with you all! For those who are unfamiliar with the magazine, this is an excerpt from their website:

“East End Fashion Magazine serves the Pittsburgh, PA area with focus on the neighborhoods in the East End. EEFM believes in local and independent and will support those businesses by getting the word out through fashion photo spreads, a directory listing, advertisements and social events. By existing only online, EEFM is able to add and update photos and content more often than a print magazine, is easily accessible to everyone, and is better for the environment.”

We want to thank East End for the amazing write up and invite you all to check out the adorable photo set they posted. You can click here to be taken right to the article. Fun Snowman Nails That Are Easy, Too!

I don’t know about you ladies, but I love being festive – especially around Christmas time! It’s always great to tie in a little bit of seasonal fun with everyday, run-of-the-mill things. So why not spice up your regular manicure with a little bit of holiday cheer?

I know that everybody isn’t a nail artist. It really grinds my gears whenever I see blogs post nail tutorials that require some serious time, effort, and skill to pull off. I don’t know about you – but I don’t have an hour to draw an intricate Christmas tree on every single one of my nails! So we chose this one for you. It’s not only quick and easy, but it’s really cute, too! You’re sure to have people commenting left and right :)

1. Simply start with a white coat on each nail. Since white polish tends to be a bit streaky, apply an additional coat once your first layer is completely dry. A great hint for a perfect manicure is to wait until your nails are TOTALLY DRY before applying an additional coat!

2. Once both coats are dry, you can add a coat of white or light blue glitter to give more of a “glistening snow” effect. This step is optional, but it does add a little bit of glitz!

3. Choose a nail for your snowman. It’s best to work with either your middle or ring finger since those nail beds tend to be the largest. With a toothpick, dip the tip into black nail polish. Gently tap onto the nail to create two circles for eyes. Pick up more polish and repeat the same process to make the mouth. Ensure that your toothpick tip is coated, but not dripping. Too big of a glob will spread once the toothpick touches the surface of your nail.

4. Once your eyes and mouth are dry, flip your toothpick around and dip the dry end into orange polish. Create a long stripe for the nose by gentle sweeping your toothpick across the center of your nail. Carefully “thicken” the end of the stripe to make it look more like a carrot by applying another coat of orange once dry.

5. Once your nose, mouth, and eyes are totally dry – top things off with clear coat and you’re ready to roll! Happy Holidays, ladies! :)

Holiday Hair Doesn’t Have to be Hard!

Well it’s officially December, ladies! The holidays have certainly snuck up on us and before we know it, Santa will be sliding his way down the chimney once again. Pretty crazy!

But with the holidays right around the bend, it means more than just Santa. It means parties – lots of them. I personally love getting dressed up for holiday parties because it gives me a great excuse to wear lots of sparkle :) But besides glitter and heels and sassy accessories – a girl has one more thing to worry about: her hair! Your outfit really isn’t complete without a great hairstyle, let’s be honest here. If you’re rocking an adorable cocktail dress and your mane looks a mess.. that is simply just not okay.

So I’ve dug up a few really quick and easy hairstyles that are great for any holiday party you’re attending. Wear them with a casual outfit or something dressier. There’s never an inappropriate situation for fantastic hair – I can assure you of that!

These adorable, loose curls are really easy to achieve and SURPRISE! You actually create them with a straightener! Simply clamp 1″-2″ sections of hair with a skinny straightening iron (about 1″ should work) and twist upward like a curling iron. Keep your iron clamped as you pull through the strand, releasing it from the iron. Hit your finished curls with a light mist of hairspray and you’re ready to roll! If you’d like tighter curls, simply use smaller pieces of hair. The larger the chunk, the wavier the look. This is perfect for holiday parties since the weather is cooler and an updo may leave you chilly! And who doesn’t love a nice head of curls? Perfect!

A low ponytail is extremely in-style right now and they’re really quick and easy to create. Simply gather hair at the base of your neck and gently work to one side. Secure close to your head and neck with a clear hair tie and loosely curl the ends for a more polished look. If you want to up the ante – tease your roots at your crown to create a bit of a “pouf”, as well as add some volume. Adding a festive bow or flower to the area where your hair is gathered is also great for a sweet holiday look!

Our final suggestion is also our favorite! This adorable half up and half down look can be done with any texture hair – so if you prefer to straighten, you can still pull this one off. Leaving your bangs out, pull back a 2″-3″ section of hair from each side and secure in the back with bobby pins. No hair tie is necessary since you want this to have a looser, more romantic feel. Add a sprig of holly, mistletoe, or any other festive leaf/flower by securing it into one of the pulled back portions with a bobby pin. So cute and fun!

How will you be wearing your hair this holiday season?

Thanksgiving Chic… Are You Ready?

Well ladies, we’re already nearing the end of November. Can you believe it?! I feel like this year has absolutely flown by, but honestly – I could not be more excited for the holiday season to officially begin.

I will confess that I have had my Christmas tree up for about a week now, though. SUE ME! I just absolutely love the holiday spirit! But even though my decor has skipped over Thanksgiving, I am still very ready to get my grub on next week. And even more importantly? I’m ready to put together a Thanksgiving outfit :)

You can go in quite a few different directions when choosing your get-up. Are you going for something warm and cozy? Or are you interested in something dressier? Here are three different ideas to get your wheels turning when choosing the perfect outfit.

Cozy Accessories

Cozy accessories in seasonal, neutral colors are the perfect way to warm up your ensemble. Browns, oranges, mauves, and creams are great choices that are both seasonal and stylish. Throw a cute shoulder warmer like this over a basic tee with a high-waisted skirt for an easy and cozy look.

Simple and Sweet

Get-togethers with the family aren’t typically the best time to break out your hot, low-cut tanktop, now are they? Keeping your ensemble simple and sweet is a great pointer for choosing your Thanksgiving get-up. This adorable blouse offers cute detailing around the neckline, but the rolled up sleeves keep it casual. If you prefer something more laid back, pair this top with a pair of jeans and brown, heeled boots.

Fall-Friendly Dresses

There is nothing more in-style right now than long-sleeved dresses. If you want to show your family just how fashion forward you are – this adorable dress is a home run! Featuring beautiful patterning all over and additional detailing along the neckline, this dress is absolutely perfect for your annual get-together. Pair with tights and heels (or boots) for a dressier look.

Will you be using any of these suggestions as inspiration for your holiday gathering? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to enjoy some time with family and friends! xo

Viva La Animal Print

As we speak, I am sitting underneath a zebra print blanket, wearing a leopard print shirt, holding my dog who is wearing a leopard print collar.

My bedspread is leopard print. I have leopard print decals on my wall. My throw pillows are zebra print.

It is safe to say that I am thoroughly and 100% in love with animal print.

So how awesome is it that animal print is trendy as ever right now? It’s pretty freaking awesome. But while I might be sitting here in a sea of prints right now, it’s important to wear these saucy patterns correctly as a fashionista. A leopard print shirt with a zebra print skirt? Probably not the best idea. A sexy leopard print dress paired with a black cardi when heading out for drinks with friends? Now we’re talking.

Take this cute little dress for example. A skinny black belt ensures that all the right curves are accentuated and the three-quarter length sleeves are perfect for chillier weather.

And how appropriate is it that this dress is named “Purr”? TOO CUTE!
If you want to pick this one up, it’s available through ChloeChic,
simply click here to view it on the site.

Animal print also makes a great accent to an outfit that consists of two simple essentials like a solid-colored tee and jeans. Throw on a zebra print or leopard print scarf and you’ve instantly added some spice to an otherwise basic get-up. With the popularity of animal print on the rise, you can find everything from earrings to hair accessories to outerwear that feature exotic patterns.

Every girl has a wild side right? Why not let yours shine through!?

New Puppy Alert!

Well folks.. it has been a very busy weekend/week for your favorite ChloeChic blogger. Not only have I been trying my hardest to enjoy this fantastic weather we have been having here in Pittsburgh, I also made a little journey down to the lovely state of North Carolina to pick up a lovely little italian greyhound pup over the weekend.

I had a chihuahua growing up and whenever I moved out, she stayed with my mom since she ended up liking her more than me. Sort of a slap in the face, but I’m getting over it. ANYWAYS, I wanted to get another dog and finally followed through. Her name is Luna (yes, I’m a little bit of a Harry Potter nerd… that’s where her name is from) & she’s such a sweet little bean! She’s having some issues right now with the whole crate training thing (somebody isn’t a big fan of me going to work), but we are making progress!

The breeder sent me pictures every week so I have created a little timeline here for you all to enjoy. Her cuteness simply cannot be contained! I hope you enjoy! xo

Just 3 weeks old

Such a cute little lady with her “go-go boots” markings

One of my favorites!!

7 weeks old with baby blue eyes!

Enjoying one of her favorite toys

Finally home with mom :)

Thanks for letting me brag a little bit! Have a great rest of the week, everyone!

Style Icons: Zooey Deschanel

You know what I love? I love that so many young and upcoming stars are embracing the classic, vintage-look. If you know absolutely anything about the folks here at Chloe Chic – you know that we are very into vintage. So when we see our favorite look taking Hollywood by storm? Yeah, we get a little bit excited about that.

Case and point: Zooey Deschanel. I remember seeing Zooey wayyy back in the day in the movie “Elf”.. She sort of went off the map for a little while, but now she’s back and bigger than ever. I definitely see her becoming one of Hollywood’s new “It” girls within the next year or so if she doesn’t already qualify.

But let’s get to the main point. Zooey rocks that girl-next-door vintage look like it’s her job. As if she’s not already gorgeous enough with those crazy big eyes, she throws in quite possibly some of the cutest outfits I’ve ever seen.

Anything with a sweetheart neckline, a high waist, and a poofy skirt is speaking my language. Plus, this unique gold/nude colored fabric looks absolutely stunning on fair-skinned brunettes. Definitely a gorgeous, vintage-inspired look.

What do you get when you mix a fun and flirty pattern with a fun and flirty neckline? This adorable dress! Another thing that’s a huge fashion trend right now? The simple cinching of the waistline which is perfectly exemplified above! You don’t need a big and clunky belt to accentuate your curves. A skinny piece of fabric in a coordinating color is all you need to do the trick. Well done, Zooey!

Lace is so hot right now and this dress couldn’t prove that to be more true! Check out this 1970′s-esque piece that has accents of lace all over. A sheer overlay that pops in certain areas (here, it stands out on the three quarter-length sleeves) is the perfect way to achieve a subtly sexy look.  If you’re not comfortable bearing a ton of skin, but you still want to add a bit of an edge to your look – a lace overlay is absolutely ideal. Fun, flirt, and totally in style right now.

I am so in love with this look. Dark tights paired with a belted above-the-knees skirt, an accented button down, and a cargidan is perfect for any occasion. Whether it’s meeting friends for lunch, meeting your boyfriend’s parents, or just another day at work or school – this outfit is both adorable and practical. Do you have a go-to cardigan for your winter wardrobe? If not, what are you waiting for?! Cardigans can add color and style to just about any outfit and who doesn’t love their practicality?

And who says you can’t have a little fun with your look every now and then? This adorable petal-style skirt paired with a very simple three quarter-length sleeve top looks flawless on Zooey. And that might be what we love so much about her. From sweetheart necklines to cardigans to off-the-wall skirts that add flair to the simplest of outfits, Zooey is fashionably unpredictable. And all while maintaining a vintage edge… ::sigh:: and she makes it all look so easy.

So here’s to you, Zooey. You keep being adorable on-screen and I’ll keep wishing I had your eyes. And hair. And voice. And wardrobe.

Easy Halloween Costumes for Fashionistas

Well ladies, can you believe that we’re just a little less than a week away from Halloween? Personally, my mind is still somewhere in mid-August. I simply cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by! But regardless, I’m in love with Halloween – always have been and always will be. There is something so magical and cozy about this time of year.

I don’t think you’re ever “too old” to dress up for the holiday. I still put a lot of thought and effort into my costume and I am well into my 20′s! Whether you’re going to a party or simply handing out candy at home, there’s nothing wrong with throwing on a costume to celebrate. But let’s admit it, those little buggers can be expensive! And if you don’t have a lot of breathing room in your budget, you may be scrambling for ideas.

But have no fear! We have some great ideas for you that definitely won’t break the bank. And as an added bonus, you’ll look adorable, too :)

1. Minnie Mouse: being everyone’s favorite cartoon mouse is really quite simple, and chances are you have most of the necessities right in your closet! A simple red and white polka dot dress will make up the bulk of your outfit. Pair with a simple set of mouse ears (inexpensive at any party/costume store) and a pair of yellow flats and you’re all set! Up the ante and draw on a black mouse nose with eyeliner, too.

2. “Little Black Dress” Witch: looking to get some extra use out of your go-to “little black dress”? Why not transform yourself into a sexy witch this Halloween? Pair that perfect dress with a cape and a witch’s hat and the bulk of your costume is complete. Rock a sexy smokey eye and a passionate red pout and you’ll be the cutest “witch” in town! Who knew being evil could look so good?

3. Scooby’s Leading Ladies: whether you’re on the timid side or more of a flirt, either Velma or Daphne are perfect costume choices! And even better – they’re super easy! For Velma, a pair of thick rimmed glasses are a must. Wear them with an orange sweater and red pleated skirt and you’re good to go! For Daphne? All you’ll need is a retro style purple dress and a green scarf around your neck. Top it off with a thick, pink headband and you’re all set!

4. Holly GoLightly: were you a fan of our Audrey Hepburn post? Then why not go as her most famous character, Holly GoLightly, for Halloween? Simply rock that ‘go-to little black dress’ with a pair of oversized sunglasses, pearls, and white gloves. It couldn’t be easier and you just may have everything right in your closet already!

5. Put Your Cosmetic Skills to the Test: If you aren’t really interested in putting together a whole ensemble, you can easily create a Halloween-style look with the tools in your makeup kit. Experiment with elements like black and brown eye shadow to create sunken eyes and cheeks. Red lipstick and black eyeliner can create “scars” and “cuts” with a little bit of creativity. Even when paired with regular clothes, hauntingly spooky makeup can take your look to the perfect Halloween level.

So there you go, fashionistas! Five great ideas to get you started. So stop mulling over what to be and get started on that costume! Put your own creative spin on things and truly make it your own. Let us know how you’ll be celebrating this year in the comments below! In the meantime, you can also use some of these awesome celebrity costumes as inspiration, too!
